1. General information
The geographic study of development and cooperation is proposed as an optional subject of the Territorial Planning and Applications Module of the Degree in Geography and Territorial Planning. With a teaching load of 6 ECTS credits, it is taught, as mentioned above, in the third and fourth year of the degree.
The main goal of the subject is the delimitation and explanation of the spatial inequalities of development. With specific character, the aim is to reflect on concepts, indicators and limits of development, to analyze its causes and effects and to value the interrelationships between the different spaces. Analyzes the modalities of development cooperation and their effects social and spatial. These approaches and objectives are aligned with virtually all of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
2. Learning results
In order to pass this subject, the students shall demonstrate they has acquired the following results:
- Describe and interpret the conceptual meanings and modalities of development.
- Analyze, explain and interpret the complexity of the factors and processes involved in the development of different spaces.
- Identify, select and evaluate the main databases and studies related to development.
- Describe, analyze and evaluate different development indicators and diagnose development models.
- Recognize the problems generated by discrimination (on the basis of sex, religion, race or disability) and the lack of democratic values in certain territorial areas.
- Assess the importance of inter-territorial cooperation in development planning.
- Explain the relevance of the study of uneven development in understanding today's world.
- Detect shortcomings and make proposals for development planning.
- Assess, with criteria of solidarity and non-discrimination (based on sex, religion, race or disability), actions and projects aimed at development cooperation and, if necessary, propose alternatives.
- Present in an orderly manner, orally and in writing, the methodology, goals and results of their research work and case studies, individually and/or as a team.

8) Technologies for cooperation. Collaborative Mapping for International Cooperation.
9) Instruments for Sustainability. Ecological Footprint.
10) Management of Cooperation Projects: Project Life Cycle. Logical Framework Matrix. Project Evaluation.
11) Pedagogy for Social Transformation.
12) Case analysis.
4. Academic activities
The program offered to the student to help them achieve the expected results includes the following activities:
Lectures, presenting the contents of the course, promoting active participation.
Practical sessions and seminars for the analysis and evaluation of sources, texts and other materials; exposition and discussion, lectures, etc and conferences related to development cooperation.
Tutored practical work: monitoring and guidance in the development of case studies and projects.
Field work: Visit to local organizations or actors related to territorial and international cooperation. Personal study, individual practical work.
Evaluation test, according to the evaluation system.
5. Assessment system
I Call for Proposals
a) Continuous assessment system
1: Presentation of individual or team practices in relation to development and inter-territorial cooperation (50%)
2: Individual written test (50%): Multiple-choice test and development questions on the contents. Assessment criteria: Structure and formal presentation of the papers; timely delivery of the same; quality of the written and oral expression; adequacy of the methodology, correct use of bibliography and other materials.
b) Global evaluation test
1: Portfolio of practical activities and case studies related to development and international cooperation (35%).
2: Individual written test of theoretical and practical knowledge (65%).
Assessment criteria: Structure and formal presentation of the papers; quality of the written expression; accuracy in the contents; adequacy of the applied methodology; correct use of bibliography and materials.
